      Passyunk Square

There’s no denying that the Passyunk Square / East Passyunk area is one of the top places to be in South Philadelphia.   A seemingly endless strip of restaurants, shops, and services offer a little something for everyone.

From Broad St to 6th Street and between Tasker St & Washington Avenue, Passyunk Square was revived in 2003 by Geoff DiMasi when he formed the Passyunk Square Civic Association, arguably one of the most involved and influential neighborhood associations in South Philadelphia.

Tourists think of “pa-shunk” immediately for Pat’s and Geno’s cheesesteaks, but it has grown into so much more than that.   In 2013, Food and Wine magazine voted East Passyunk one of the “10 Best Foodie Streets in America”.

Living in the area is exciting for those who want to be in the action.   An eclectic mix of residential rowhomes surrounds East Passyunk Avenue – you never know what to expect when you pass through the front door!

The most talked about recent real estate development in the area has been the construction of a 5-story mixed use property on the former site of the iconic “King of Jeans” store. A staple in the early 1990’s for young teens everywhere – it was the place to buy denim. The store’s sign did all of the selling.  http://www.passyunkpost.com/tag/king-of-jeans/
