There is Always Something Happening in Philadelphia

      post by Kim Minutella

There is always something happening in Philadelphia. From festivals to concerts, to conventions and pub crawls, every week the city boasts a variety of things to do–each with their own unique spin–that you can’t experience anywhere else. If you take the time to venture out your door, you may find things you never knew were there.

Having trouble with an idea on where to start? Never fear! Here’s a list with some suggestions of places and events you may want to be on the lookout for as you go:

      Discover Your Artsy Side

      InLiquid Art & Design Events

Located in one of Fishtown’s coolest historic hot spots, the InLiquid Gallery at Crane Arts features rotating exhibitions on a monthly basis. From large-scale installations, to paintings, to ceramics — there’s nothing the InLiquid art gallery does not have. Visit InLiquid.org to find out the latest happenings at the gallery and other locations. From art receptions to Drink & Draw events, Q&A sessions, and lectures, InLiquid is a leader in experiencing all that Philly Art has to offer!

      First Fridays in Philly

On the First Friday of every month, you could say that Philadelphia’s art galleries are a little like werewolves, in that they go through a transformation once each month: from cute and quiet to crowded and quintessentially hip. Opening their doors to the public, galleries all across the city host free art parties with wine and hors d’oeuvres galore. Generally, First Friday events run from 5-8pm, where you can hop to different galleries along Second and Market streets in Old City, such as Arch Enemy Arts and Muse Gallery, to see the latest inventions from the minds of Philly’s most creative talents.

Wednesday Nights at the Philadelphia Museum of Art

Every Wednesday night, the Philadelphia Museum of Art opens its doors for after-hours activities ranging from drink and draws, yoga, evening tours of the galleries, and a lot more. Check out their website (nudge, nudge) for a full set of events. I can almost guarantee you’ll find something you’ll like.

      Embrace Your Inner Nerd

Science After Hours at the Franklin Institute

Once the sun goes down, at Science After Hours the Franklin Institute gets its science freak on and the doors open up to anyone 21 or older for games, live demonstrations, experiments, and much, much more. Featuring a wide variety of topics and a cash bar, Science After Hours events offer a fresh spin on learning new things.

      Riot Nerd

Despite the fact that the word “nerd” is in their title, Riot Nerd is the one of the coolest event organizers in the city. From Goth Proms, to Stranger Things Raves, and even dance parties with themes that are certainly outside of the box (like American Psycho), Riot Nerd has hosted it all! If you see an event with their name on it, be sure to check it out. It’s guaranteed to be awesome.

      Philly Yoga Factory

We could all use a good stretch after a long day at work. The good news is that you can get it for just 7 bucks a class at the Philly Yoga Factory. For such an affordable price, you might as well try it, just to see. You never know, you may love it, and yoga can be healthy not only for the body, but for the mind as well!

Do you have a favorite Philly store you’d love to see featured here? Tell me about it and we might do a story! Contact Christina Briglia, Realtor: 267-231-5484 or [email protected].
